"Never the mother," comes the rebuttal and a soft chuckle. "Perhaps the uncle?"
In response to the water gusting over him, Aidan lets his hand sweep to one side of Kai, letting the water flow over the man's hip all the way up to his ribs.
It would be so easy to press his fingers to that lean, warm chest. Everything in Kai aches to do just that for one quiet moment as he just stares at Aidan with a small smile lingering on his lips. He can feel that water tickling his side and knows it's because of Aidan and for one crazy moment he wonders just how it would be if he'd shift to the side and put himself right in the bath of that hand...
Then he sobers up and reaches up to press his hands to Aidan's shoulders, pressing him down. Kai's mouth is warm as it presses a kiss Aidan's forehead on his way down.
"You're too cute to be an uncle," he says laughingly before pushing Aidan under the surface.
Aidan doesn't fight as he's shoved, just holding his breath immediately on feeling the push on his shoulders. He smiles underwater, slipping around Kai as quick as an eel, and then deliberately tickling the half-mer along his ribs because that shove deserves retaliation.
In his human form, Aidan is slower under water than Kai is. The tickle makes him laugh as he dives, twisting under water to circle around Aidan, his back curving as he makes a circle around the man, then comes up in front of him, not quite surfacing. His arms go over Aidan's shoulders, legs slowly wading water beneath.
Kai leans in close, as if he's going to press another kiss to Aidan's nose. It wouldn't be all that unusual if he had been in his seal skin. But when he gets close enough, he blows bubbles on Aidan's face, laughing, his voice more like clicking under the water.
For a breathless moment, Aidan had actually thought Kai might kiss him, and felt his heart hammer so hard in his chest he was sure it would be audible. But instead he's met with a flurry of bubbles and clicking laughter. At least the bubbles hide how his cheeks have pinkened for the moment, then he shakes his head and makes his way back for the surface, smiling as he swipe the hair from his face.
"Now you're resorting to drowning me?" he jokes, looking down at the water and the pale shape in front of him.
Kai lets Aidan pull him up to the surface, clinging to his shoulders as they go up. He doesn't wipe his face but merely blinks water away from his eyes, lashes heavy with it.
"Drowning you?" he asks with a snorting laughter. "Who are we talking about here?"
Kai does notice the pinkness on Aidan's cheeks when they surface though, and it's what makes him pull back and wade the water a little further away. Just to stop himself from doing something stupid like brushing his fingers over that pinkness.
"Oh, honey," Kai throws a teasing glance at him with a playful grin. "I would rescue you before you'd get a lungful of sea water." Aidan is never going to drown on his watch. That's just absurd to even think that. He would cut off both of his arms before letting anything bad happen to this adorable creature.
Kai groans at that and flops onto his back on the still water, disappearing as he dives deep under the waves. Of course Grey will be the spoiler of joy.
Finally he surfaces behind Aidan, draping his arms over the man's shoulders and lowers his chin on top of Aidan's head.
It's both torture and an absolute joy to have Kai all over him like this, completely guileless and free in his affections. It reminds him so much of when they were younger and life wasn't so... brutal.
Shaking off such moodiness, Aidan just huffs and reaches up to ruffling Kai's hair lightly. "You could always mutiny against your captain if you dislike it that much, but I doubt it would go well."
"You wish to see me pulled under the keel?" Kai pretends to be appalled by this idea and then even more so: "You wish to see me try captaining?" As if that was such a horror. It might be, though... Kai isn't exactly the type to keep all that in his fingers.
"You are a cruel and unusual man," he continues, not even thinking of dislodging himself from Aidan's back.
Aidan chuckles and starts swimming, not bothering to transform and just letting Kai laze on top of him. "Strange, you seem to like me just fine, so what does that make you?" he teases along the way.

"We're going to have to go back, soon," he comments gently. "Otherwise Grey will have both our hides for slacking."
