Despil frowns at the news of it. He's heard some of this from Damian before but he had hoped it would go away with some time. Apparently not, it seems.
"Even if you aren't involved with the family," he starts slowly. "You know Chip and Chet out there see you as the next royalty, right?" It can be useful but in this situation probably far from it. "Have you ever talked with them about it?"
"I've... told them enough to make sure they don't get involved," Damian says with a little wince. They hadn't been happy about it, either, but eventually had agreed to hold back form the violence. "They'll only jump in if someone pulls a weapon on me."
Despil looks thoughtful, his brow furrowing as he considers the news. "Have you been home lately? Seen dad? I wonder what the power balance between the families is right now."
Because just having enough of goons of their own at the bar could scare off Ulysse's tormentors if the power was tilted towards the Sawalls that much. But that's a thing that doesn't come free if they'll play that game.
Damian immediately shakes his head, looking even more uncomfortable as he admits, "I've been avoiding home for a while, now... Last I spoke to dad was on the phone. He didn't say anything about the situation. You know how it goes..."
Just because he hasn't said anything to his boys doesn't mean he's not up to his usual tricks. Damian just hopes they won't be the last to know if something big happens.
"Maybe I'll go see him," Despil says, studying Damian, who can be both too soft for the likes of dad and yet far better suited for discussing with the man than Despil is. "I've got a reason to do that, I've been away for a couple of years."
Maybe he can rustle up some info. Just in case there's something going on that would be beneficial for them to know about.
"Let me call him first, see how he's feeling," Despil says, then leans forward to squeeze Damian's knee. "I'm not dragging you there without a good reason. I just can't help but wonder if we could do something about this situation with Ulysse's bar from behind the scenes..."
He nods then and puts down the empty beer can. "Let me see how it goes first, okay?"

Hesitating a moment, Damian asks quietly, "Want me to come with you? Might be better than dealing with him on your own..."

Damian doesn't look too convinced, but there's also no reason for him to be too insistent either. Yet.
And he can trust Despil to try to be more... open to conversation on the phone rather than meeting their father in person.
"All right... Let's see how you manage."
